Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in America. Known for her work in film and television in the 1980s, she's been awarded numerous awards like two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett is born in New York New York. Her home was Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett relocated with her older sister St. Petersburg Florida at the age of five so that they could be near their mom as she was divorced from their father. Bassett saw James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play as she was still at high school and decided that it was acting she wanted to do. Yale University New Haven Connecticut awarded her a bachelor's degree (1980) with a focus on African American study, and an honorary doctorate (1983) in the Yale School of Drama. At Yale she came across Courtney B. Vance a actress who was a friend of hers. They married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a Master's Degree on African American studies in the year 1980.
